Whatever the nature of our hair (straight, wavy, curly, frizzy, frizzy, etc.), we all want to be able to detangle it easily and gently. Indeed, knots can be frequent, especially if you have dry, very long or weakened hair. Which product should you choose to gently detangle your hair? Centifolia reveals its tips to you!

Why does hair get tangled?
The drier the hair, the more easily it tangles! Pollution, cold, UV rays, lack of maintenance but also overly aggressive care and bleaching, attack the hair fiber. The hair scales are weakened, the hair clings to each other, which creates knots. The solution? Choose suitable hair products to hydrate it and smooth the hair fiber, and above all use shampoos, oils, balms and detangling masks which will nourish the hair, fill in any gaps and thus facilitate detangling.
What is a detangling product used for?
Organic detangling treatments often come in the form of an organic spray, but this action can also be found in a shampoo or even a mask, a balm, a cream and an oil. These hair products have a specific role depending on their ingredients: that of smoothing the hair fiber and thus covering the hair to facilitate detangling. These treatments therefore do not wash the hair, their formula does not contain a cleansing agent but repairing, moisturizing and/or protective active ingredients such as vegetable oils (castor, apricot, etc.) or even vegetable keratin. Specific active ingredients can also be integrated into the formula of the detangling product for targeted action, for example organic Raspberry vinegar to strengthen the shine of the hair.
Which hair detangler to choose?
It’s normal to feel lost when faced with the different formats and formulas of organic detangling products! First, ask yourself what use you want to make of your product:
- Protect and coat the hair fiber: integrate a detangling balm in your hair routine. This treatment is used on wet hair, after shampooing, and requires rinsing. Day after day, your hair is repaired and extremely easy to style. offering more volume to your hair.
- For even more intense and complete action, opt for a treatment mask which nourishes the hair and gives it shine. In addition to its main action (nourishing the hair, giving it more shine, etc.), this treatment will provide more softness to your hair to make detangling easier. It is used before or after shampoo depending on its action, rinses with water and can be used as a leave-in treatment on dry hair.
- Easily detangle the hair of the whole family (from 3 years old) and give it suppleness, at any time of the day: integrate a detangling lotion in your beauty ritual. This organic leave-in treatment comes in the form of a spray which delivers an ultra-light mist. This detangling spray with a light fragrance facilitates detangling without weighing down or greasing the hair. It is used on dry hair and is ideal for use at any time of the day for hair that is always detangled. The detangling spray can be used from 3 years old.

The essential steps for gentle detangling
For even softer and easier to detangle hair, here are our tips:
- Choose the right brush or comb: wide-toothed combs are ideal for easily detangling your hair without breaking the hair fiber. If you prefer the brush format, opt for wooden pins which style the hair without damaging it, while providing a light massage of the scalp! If your hair is frizzy, don’t hesitate to use your fingers for gentle detangling.
- Start with the ends: proceed with detangling step by step to avoid breakage. Start by detangling the ends, then gradually work your way up to the roots.
- Detangle your hair in the shower: hair detangles more easily when coated with organic shampoo or organic conditioner.
- Drain your hair gently: sponge it instead of rubbing it so as not to stimulate the opening of the scales and avoid knots. Then wrap them in a microfiber towel which will absorb excess water and then let them air dry.
- Brush your hair every evening: this will remove dust and dead hair, making your hair more disciplined and soft.
- Braid your hair before bed: If you can, braid or tie your hair loosely before going to bed. This will prevent your hair from tangling when rubbing against the pillow.

hair detangling

Hello, with my hair type I don’t have any detangling problems so it’s not a problem to choose an organic detangler. I’m just careful that it doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it greasy.
