“1 product sold every 20 seconds”: the figures given by Picard demonstrate the success of this reference, acclaimed by customers. A forest taste, an easy-to-spread texture, and above all, excellent value for money: for all these reasons, this food product has many fans. As it is sold exclusively during the end-of-year holidays, and it keeps for weeks in the freezer, some people do not hesitate to stock up on it. “When I manage to find some, I rush for it!”tells us Suzanne, a former Picard saleswoman, a big regular at the brand. “OYou can’t necessarily find it in all Picard stores.” the young woman explains to us, “so last year, I stocked up!” And she is far from the only one…

Suzanne loves this product for its texture that melts in the mouth, its reasonable price and above all, its taste. “It’s a product for special occasions, which also doesn’t represent a crazy expense,” she explains to us. In the customer reviews, we discover a real fan club for the product. “I bought it last year for the Christmas holidays, and I’m buying it again this year. It’s really very good”, confides a customer, won over by the product. Another exclaims: “I buy enough at Christmas to have all year round! Please keep it on the shelf all year round!” One mother even says that her children love it too: “Texture, taste and practicality, we like everything. I generally buy several at a time to stock up!”. Chantal, another customer, explains that it is “delicious as a thin slice on toast”.

But what is this product? This is… the Vegetable delight Picard, a “vegan foie gras” with cashew nuts and mushrooms! Sold for 6.70 euros per 220 gram block, it is part of the brand’s festive selection at Christmas. Bruno, the brand’s R&D (Research and Development) project manager, explains: “we wanted to work with cashew nuts to find the true texture of the block of foie gras”. He adds that we find in this product “a typical taste, enhanced by a note of spices and cognac, in the same way that you would season your own foie gras”. The addition of bay bolete, black mushroom, white pepper and green pepper, but also miso paste (a Japanese fermented soy paste that is very powerful in the mouth), also helps to accentuate the forest flavor of this foie gras-style terrine.

For optimal tasting, the brand recommends unmolding the still frozen vegetable delight into a dish, covering it with the tray, then letting it defrost for 5 hours in the refrigerator. It is also recommended to serve it very cold, for better hold of the block.
