Ingredients

  • Yogurt
  • Flour
  • Oil
  • Milk
  • Broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • Cream
  • Onion, finely diced

For serving:

  • Crispy fried onions
  • Oil for frying

How to Prepare Egyptian Koshk

  1. Start the base:
    Mix the yogurt with a pinch of salt and flour. Stir well until smooth, then let the mixture rest to lightly ferment.
  2. Sauté the onions:
    In a pan, sauté the diced onions in ghee or oil until golden.
  3. Cook the Koshk:
    Add the yogurt–flour mixture to the pan, then pour in the broth, milk, and cream. Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture thickens into a smooth, creamy consistency.
  4. Serve:
    Pour the Koshk into a serving dish and top it generously with crispy fried onions for extra flavor and texture.
