The time for the annual review has come for the top Google searches. On the French side, it seems that 2025 was the year of curiosity, creativity and learning.

The observation is confirmed by all generations: beyond its excesses, the web is establishing itself more than ever as the ultimate tool for immediate knowledge. We can learn everything, understand everything (or at least try), in a fraction of a second. For years now, and even more so since the development of artificial intelligence, the reflex of opening a dictionary to discover the meaning of a word or pulling out old textbooks to learn a new gesture has been disappearing for good. Everything is just a click away. And while some might argue that the internet has made us lazy, Google trends prove that the French still have a thirst for knowledge.
You only need to look at the billions of requests accumulated by the American giant to see a profile emerging. In France, a trend stands out: questions “what does that mean?” to tutorials for “learning to”, including different AIs for “revising” or “creating a CV”… Google has transformed itself into a real assistant and digital life coach!

The French sought to educate themselves or master a new creative hobby. In the “learn to” category, we discover that guitar, chess, figurine painting, harmonica, sewing, singing, drawing and even embroidery have won over the most creative Internet users in 2025! But, the most obvious thing this year is the entry of the “AI for” category into the list of the most searched themes. There is in fact a strong trend, particularly among young pupils and students, to use artificial intelligence to progress in class. The searches “AI for revising”, “AI for maths”, “AI for courses”, “AI for students”, “AI for learning English”, or even “AI for making a CV” are among the Top 10 in this category.
Thus, in addition to the research of the new generation, it seems that the rest of the French have mainly sought to understand said young people and their language. Many slang expressions have been the subject of queries such as “what does that mean?” on Google: TikTok trends from Italy like “Tralalero tralala” or “Bombardino crocodilo”, to “Sigma Boy”, including “tchiper” or “wesh pelo” for example.
Google Trends 2025 therefore paints the portrait of a nation that thirsts for understanding and progress, whether to pass its mathematics exam, to do a little better in English, or to finally show off in front of everyone with its guitar. But of course, Google is not only used to develop our brains: among the biggest search trends, we also obviously find sport, films and series, books, video games, personalities from music, cinema and politics, but also recipes.
