A daily action could well introduce invisible bacteria into your home and ruin your cleaning efforts.

December is here, and with it, preparations for the holidays: decorating the house, meals to prepare, and gifts to organize. But in this excitement, certain everyday actions, although banal, can have unsuspected consequences on the cleanliness of your home. These are habits that we adopt without thinking about it, but which can become open doors to microbes and bacteria.
We clean, we disinfect, we mop the floors to keep our interior clean and healthy. We ventilate the rooms, we disinfect door handles and switches, and we ensure that frequently touched surfaces are always spotless. However, there are objects that we handle without realizing it and which, although they come from outside, can bring back invisible dirt with them. A gesture that we do every day without even thinking about it, but which can be riskier than we think.
These objects, which often arrive by delivery, are handled multiple times before arriving at our home. They are placed in public places, on floors where dirt accumulates, and have come into contact with unsavory surfaces. And even if we receive them with complete confidence, one particular item among all those we handle can turn out to be much dirtier than expected: packages.
Christophe Mercier-Thellier, microbiologist, warns against this source of silent contamination. According to him, “on this object, you have fecal bacteria.” He adds that packages are often left on the ground in the street, where they come “in contact with cat pee, dog poop, rotting insects, pollen, etc.” It is therefore these contaminated surfaces which can end up in your home, in the form of packets which are deposited without precaution on tables or other living areas.

To avoid any risk of contamination, it is important to be careful where you place these objects. Christophe Mercier-Thellier strongly advises putting the packages on the floor at home and especially not on a table, because you are putting food there. Opening packages on the ground, away from areas where people eat or gather, can avoid introducing invisible microbes into the home.
During this holiday season, when deliveries are increasing, you just need to take a few seconds to rethink your actions. By opening a package on the ground and avoiding placing it on a table, you reduce the risk of contamination and preserve the cleanliness of your interior.
